Sawubona
2026
Our 2026 offering to the Burning Man community is titled Sawubona, which is a beautiful Zulu greeting that resonates with the meaning of our piece. Sawubona literally means “I see you” but more meaningfully, “I bring you into being by seeing you”. On a larger scale, it speaks to recognizing the lived experience, the depth, the passion, and the other’s uniqueness when saluting someone.
Deep in the Playa, two friends stumble upon chairs facing each other late at night. Lanterns gently flicker. A wheel with questions sits beside them begging to be spun. Spin it or don’t. Sit and rest or don’t. Speak or remain silent. Look into each others’ eyes. Look at the stars. Look into your souls. Or don’t.
Find Sawubona and you might find something even deeper than you ever imagined.
